Bird appears very visual OU, back of eyes look normal, but there is a very slight anisocoria with OS pupil slightly smaller and slightly misshapen when constricted. Swelling/bruising starting on the R carpus. Fenbendazole (Panacur): 0.26 cc (100 mg/mL Suspension) PO Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole: 0.86 cc (48 mg/ml) PO Meloxicam: 0.34 cc (1.5 mg/ml compounded) PO A: Closed small wounds with glue and staples to hopefully decrease healing time and get bird moved forward in care faster. Should heal well on own. Mild ocular abnormalities very minimal and not affecting vision. P: Catch to give meds until SF on own consistently. Monitor stapled and glued wounds. Cleaned skin tears on leg and side with dilute chlorhex and placed duoderm patches. Cleaned facial disk wound with dilute betadine and applied thin layer of TAO. Took rads. Stained eyes. Gave 55 cc room temp LRS SQ in R leg inguinal area. Gave 1.1 cc TMS PO and 0.37 cc meloxicam PO. Placed in cage in main bird room. ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Mentation: BAR Temp (F): 106.8 Dehydration (%): 6 Heart rate: DNE Resp rate: WNL Neurologic: WNL Head/mouth/beak: Moist, pink mucus membranes. Skin tear on OS facial disk, lightly bleeding Ears: NSF AU Eyes: Slightly reduced PLR OS. Striations OU but no other abnormalities. Tracks movement in hand and appears visual. No stain uptake OU Wings: NSF Legs: skin tear L distal femur adjacent to knee Feet: NSF Body: Skin tear over L flank. Bruising over R flank/abdomen Feather condition: Almost full fledgling feathers Ectoparasites: None Radiographic findings: NSF A: Pt present with some minor soft tissue damage after a witnessed attack by predator hawks. Body temp was also slightly elevated, likely from a combination of weather, stress, and transport. This should resolve on its own and with the SQ fluids. Wounds are likely to heal well, the wound on the facial disk may or may not need a stitch or two. We will continue to monitor but prognosis is fair as long as there are no unforeseen complications. P: 4/24- vet check, fecal, blood, temp check- DC if normal, cont SID if still elevated Rx- TMS, meloxicam Tx- Monitor skin tears OS facial disk, L femur/knee, L flank and clean PRN; Monitor bruising R abdomen; SQ fluids 3 D
